Fibrosol® Ag: are primary wound dressing made of carboxy methyl cellulose nonwoven containing silver.
• The characteristics of the fiber are such that it absorbs when it comes into intimate contact with liquid not via the usual mechanism of capillary action. Absorbed fluid is retained within the structure of the fiber. As Fibrosol® Ag absorbs exudate it is rapidly converted from a dry dressing to a soft coherent gel that maintains a moist wound environment for optimal wound healing, aids autolytic debridement, and it is easily removed with little or no damage to newly formed tissue.
• The presence of silver in the dressing provides a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against many gram positive, gram negative bacteria and fungi.
• Fibrosol® Ag Dressings have five product lines Fibrosol® Ag pad, Fibrosol® Ag Island dressings, Fibrosol® Ag OTC bandages, Fibrosol® Ag Foam Gentle and Fibrosol® Ag Foam Basic.
1. Non-Adherent Fibrosol® Ag Wound Pad variants:
A. Fibrosol® Ag Non-Adhesive: Antimicrobial primary absorbent wound pad that is cut into different size, it
needs a secondary dressing for fixation. Available as flat sheets loose or stitch bonded for support upon
gelling or in the form of ribbon for tunnelling and cavity wounds.
B. Fibrosol® Ag Plus Non-Adhesive: Antimicrobial primary absorbent wound pad with the addition of Benzethonium chloride, which lowers biofilms’ surface tension to improve EDTA’s ability to remove metal ions from
them and exposes microorganisms to the antimicrobial effect of silver.
C. Fibrosol® Ag Extra Non-Adhesive: is made up of 2 layers of Fibrosol® Ag pad stitch bonded together
providing extra absorption and strength properties.
D. Fibrosol® Ag Plus Extra Non-Adhesive: is made up of 2 layers of Fibrosol® Ag Plus l stitch bonded together
providing extra absorption and strength properties2. Fibrosol® Ag island dressings and Fibrosol® Ag OTC bandage:
The pad is placed centrally on an adhesive substrate that extends beyond the border of the pad to allow
fixation without secondary dressing.
